DSM Claristar Product Launch

DSMの新製品「Claristar（クラリスター）」が、ヤン・ペーター・バルケネンデ（Dr. Jan Peter Balkenende）オランダ首相により発表されました。（2009年10月26日午後4時頃）

このイベントにおいて、YR-Designは、出島の絵のバナー制作と旧式装置の制作を委託されました。発表の際には、ステージ上に従来の方法を表す旧式装置とクラリスターをワインに加えるペピットを差しただけのガラス容器が並べて置かれました。発表の前半では、旧式装置は騒音を立てると共にライトを点灯させ、電流・電圧メーターも動いていましたが、バルケネンデ首相が装置の大きなハンドルを下ろして装置を止め、従来の方法に終止符を打ちました。於：ホテルオークラ東京メイプルルーム

DSM product launch of Claristar by the Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter BALKENENDE on the 26 of October 2009 at about 16:00. DSM asked YR-Design to create banner of Deshima and to create an old style laboratory equipment. The laboratory equipment was symbolizing the old technology and was placed on one side of the stage and on the other side of the stage a vessel of glass and with a pipet which added the Claristar to the waiting wine. Before the Prime Minister pulled a big handle and the lights, noise and the voltmeters on the noise box were put to sleep. It all took place in the Maple room at the Okura Hotel in Tokyo.

Leon Halders (President of DSM Japan) and Feike Siebesma ( Chairman of DSM) did the announcement and the explanation about the new product with the product developer.

Road Map to a Better World (Ryokichi Hirono)

2008年より、このプロジェクトに取り組んでいます。現在は、横田洋三氏（中央大学法科大学院教授）、廣野良吉氏（成蹊大学名誉教授）の撮影を行っているところです。プロジェクトはまだ完結していませんが、廣野良吉氏のビデオの一部をこちらよりご覧頂けます。

We have been working on this project since 2008. Currently, we are following Yozo Yokota, Professor of International Law at Chuo Law School, and Ryokichi Hirono, Proffesor Emeritus at Seikei University.

We edited a part of "Ryokichi Hirono." Our project has not been completed yet, but we would like to share a part of the video.

概念:

私たちと次の世代のために、私たちを取り巻く世界をより良い場所にしたい。そのためには、はじめに、私たちが、私たちを取り巻く世界を理解し、短期的・長期的にどのように関わりあっているのかを知らなければならない。地球上に私たちが存在することにより、私たちは、自分たちに危害を加えていることもあれば、他人や取り囲む環境に影響を及ぼしていることもあるが、それらの大きさを認識していない場合は多いはずである。

現代においては、電子による無料コミュニケーションが発達し、誰もが開かれた社会に無料で出版できる可能性を持つようになった。このおかげで、私たちは、地球上のグローバルな課題について、たくさんの人々の考えやコンセプトを共有することができる。

異なった社会において、人々がどのように暮らし、どのように関わりあっているのかを知ることにより、私たちは、自分たちが、共通して必要なものが何であるかを認識することができる。そして、その共通して必要なものというのは、平和、経済、安全、平等、教育、環境、情報である。

私たちは、「世界をより良く」するためにこれらの分野に取り組む人々が「何を見て、何が必要であると感じ、それに対してどのように取り組んでいるのか」をドキュメンタリーとして製作し、世界中の人々と共有したいと考える。

Concept:

To make the world around us a better place for us and for those who will succeed us, firstly we have to understand our surroundings and know how we interact with each other and with the environment in the short and long terms. Our existence on earth should be calculated in terms of how much harm we cause with our ways of life and how that influences other people and the ecosystem.

In this era, with the advance of free electronic communications and possibilities for anyone to publish freely to an open-ended, worldwide community, we can share inspirational concepts and concrete ideas for addressing questions of global concern. Learning how people live and interact in other societies will make us aware of our common needs. We see these basic needs as peace, safety, equality under the rule of law, economic security, shelter, the right to education, sustainable ecology, and access to information.

We would like to produce documentary videos about people active in various disciplines respected for their perception, commitment, and achievements in working toward “a better world,” to share with others around the globe “what problems they see and foresee, what they believe are effective solutions, and how they work to achieve their goals.”

- 世界の中で、より良い世界を作ろうと努力をしている人がいることを広める。こうした努力がなければ、人々が平和を手にするのは、もっと難しいことであり、人々はそれを知る必要がある。

- インタビュービデオを無料で公開することにより、グローバルな課題に取り組む人々をサポートする。

Purpose of This Project:

- To make people aware to the world concerns.

- People need to notice that some people make efforts to make the world better. Without those people’s efforts, it will be much harder for people to acquire peace.

- To support the people who tackle the global issues by publishing interviews and making them publicly available at no cost.

- このプロジェクトは、インタビューの対象となる方々に次のインタビューにふさわしい人々をご紹介頂くため、インタビュー対象者のご協力に頼るところが大きい。

– Publicize the videos on the internet (ex. HP of YR-DESIGN), sites offered by supporters and sponsors.

押出ポリスチレン(XPS)	Extruded Polystyrene Foam (XPS)
XPSは、ポリスチレンと不燃性のフッ素化塩素化炭化水素（FCKW）より製造される。特に、Wedi Building社のXPSは、100%耐水性、結露防止性、耐圧縮性が大きいので、普通より高度に設計される空間に使われる。XPSは、曲げ弾性率が高く、耐久性があるため、断熱材として使用される。切断行程において、粉塵の発生は少ない。	XPS is made using polystyrene granulate and an FCKW free blowing agent which helps injecting the foam into a block form creating a naturally dense and closed cell consistency of the finish material. XPS backer boards like Wedi building panel are 100% waterproof, water vapor retarding and so dense that they can be used on heavy duty floors. They provide excellent flexural and breaking strength allowing for a solid wall backer board installation.

概念：

今日の日本において、地球温暖化の影響によると考えられる洪水の被害が増大している。日本政府もまた、この状況を深刻に捉え、2006年には「大規模水害対策に関する専門調査会」を設置し取り組みを始めた。実際、2008年8月末豪雨では、愛知県で洪水が起こり、100万人以上に避難勧告が出された。ところが、行方不明者のほか、自宅に居たところ浸水被害を受けたと考えられる死亡者を2名出す結果となった。言うまでもなく、洪水・浸水から人々を守る対策の必要性は明らかである。

日本の都道府県では、治水対策として、より堤高の高いダムの建設等に取り組んでいる。しかし、これらの対策で、高齢者、子供、身体障害者等を被害から守ることができるのかは疑問である。

この問題を解決するため、私たちは、軽く断熱効果の高いXPSを建材として浮かぶ家の建築試験を行いたいと考えている。環境省の地球環境研究総合推進費による温暖化影響総合予測プロジェクトの報告書「地球温暖化『日本への影響』-最新の科学的知見-」（2008年5月発表）によると、2030年には、洪水・浸水による被害額は年間1兆円を超えると推定している。しかし、XPSを使った浮かぶ家が機能すれば、洪水による被害や対策費を軽減できる可能性がある。

地球温暖化の影響による洪水・浸水の問題は、日本だけではなく世界の課題である。また、海面上昇は、オランダやバングラデシュ等の沿岸国に住む多くの人々に影響を及ぼす。私たちは、この建築試験事業を行うことにより、日本と世界中の国の人々に貢献したいと考える。

Overview:

Today in Japan, damage caused by floods is increasing, probably due to global warming. The Japanese government considers this a critical situation and has organized an expert panel on large-scale flood control measures. In fact, more than 1 million people were ordered to evacuate when major flood affected Aichi in August, 2008. Despite this, some people went missing and two people died, although they stayed in their homes. It is apparent that measures to protect people from floods are necessary.

One of the precautions that local governments in Japan are considering is to build higher dams. Yet, there remains the question whether these measures can protect the elderly, children, the disabled, and so on.

To help people such as these, living in flood prone areas, we would like to test a floating house built with XPS, which is a lightweight, excellent insulator. According to a project report entitled “Comprehensive Assessment of Climate Change Impacts” (May, 2008), funded by the Japanese Ministry of Environment, the amount of damage from floods in Japan will amount to more than a trillion a year after 2030. By using XPS material, however, it might be possible to limit the damages and reduce the burden of expenses for countermeasures against floods.

Flooding and waterfront submergence caused by global warming are not only issues in Japan but a world wide threat. Sea level rise affects a large number of people who live in the coastal countries such as the Netherlands, Bangladesh, etc. We believe that this project will contribute to safeguarding the people of Japan and of countries the world over.
